PROJECT

Happy Mornings

Supervisor: Dr Linda Barclay

Senior lecturer

The goal of this project is to collaboratively develop a technological solution to assist neurodivergent school children in navigating and completing morning routines, ensuring they can get ready for school on time. The aid will focus on creating a user-friendly, customisable, and interactive interface to support children in managing tasks such as toothbrushing, getting dressed and other morning routines.

Some features we are looking for include

  • Incorporating Visual Schedules: that displays the morning routine step-by-step maybe include customisable icons, images, or videos to represent each task.

  • Personalized Profiles: consider a system for parents or caregivers to personalise the aid based on the child's preferences and specific routines and monitor their child. Allow for adjustments and modifications to accommodate individual needs.

  • Gamification Elements: Include gamification elements to make the morning routine engaging and enjoyable include rewards to motivate and celebrate task completion.

  • Data Tracking and Analytics: Implement a system to track a child's progress and adherence to the morning routine over time and provide analytics or reports to help parents understand patterns and make informed adjustments.

  • User-Friendly Interface: Ensure the interface is simple, clear, and easy for children aged 7 – 17 years of age to navigate independently with minimal text.
